| Tomlinson Steals the Show in Raider Loss (Football) | |

It was yet another disappointing day to be a Raider fan as Oakland blew a 14-7 lead in the fourth quarter to continue their winless streak on the road this season, closing the door on the miracle that would have been seeing the Raiders in the playoffs for the first time since 2002 as the host Chargers pulled out a 21-14 comeback victory at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.
Chargers star running back LaDainian Tomlinson was a one-man wrecking crew as he played a part in each of his team’s touchdowns, running for two and throwing for one. He rushed for 109 yards on 19 carries and proved to be Oakland’s Achilles heal once again.
Going into the game, Oakland had yet to score a touchdown in the second half all season. That string of non-existent halftime adjustments came to a screeching halt in the third quarter, as quarterback Aaron Brooks hit John Madsen for a 2 yard touchdown to give the Raiders a 14-7 lead heading into the final quarter.
So there they were. Seemingly on the brink of upsetting the division-leading San Diego Chargers on their home turf in front of over 66,000 fans in attendance, the Raiders did what they have been best known for all year: choked.
Tomlinson ran for a 10 yard touchdown and then threw a 19 yard pass to tight end Antonio Gates to seal the deal. Aaron Brooks showed why he should not be on the field when the game is on the line once again, as his final pass attempt of the afternoon was intercepted by Drayton Florence. The Raiders have lost every game that Brooks has started this year. In an unrelated story, they have lost every game he has finished as well.
Some things just seem too good to be true. The Raiders knocking off the Chargers in San Diego fits that category. Oakland has lost the last seven meetings with the Chargers and at this point, there’s no end in sight.
